Key course content and outcomes

A joint learning and support programme to help young people aged 16-24 find paid employment.
With support for a specialist team this 12 month programme will cover:
Months 1 –6
- Information Advice and Guidance
- Learning new employability skills to help find paid work.
- Team building days
- Spending up to 3 days a week in supported work tasters
Months 6 -12
With the support of the job coach the young person will have found the area in which they wish to work and have sourced a work experience placement and work up to 4 days a week
The young person will learn all the skills needed to do the job well.
It is hoped that that they will then be able to apply for any vacancies that the employer may have.
Specialist travel training will support those young people that do not travel independently.
English & Maths will be embedded into an individualised bespoke learning programme which will be accredited by Open College Network West Midlands (OCNWM) where required.
Entry requirements
Students will have an identified learning/cognitive need as specified within their EHCP; the EHCP will be fully discussed at students Year 10 review which will determine the suitability of the Post 16 offer.

This programme will be personalised and focus on the young person’s aspirations for the future.
It will enable to young person to gain vital independent living skills.
Learning new employment related skills and underpinning existing knowledge will ensure confidence in making informed choices in their chosen career path.
It will focus on outcomes that are transferable in the real world.

Timing across the week
2 days a week in a learning environment in months 1- 3
1 day a week in a learning environment in months 4 – 12 with up to 4 days a week in addition for work tasters and work experience
