Duration of course
In most cases students will complete a two-year programme of study at an appropriate level. In some instances, students will may wish to complete a third year of study should in order to progress to the next level of study or to support their future aspirations.

At Bodmin College, we offer an exhilarating and unique way of studying through a combination of subject and course choices that are designed to enable our students to move a step closer to their future aspirations. Individualised Programmes of Study are personalised through the extensive range of choices available in subject areas and across our Enrichment Opportunities, with all students having access to our Accessing Professions mentoring programme.
Students will have the following course options some of which are full time (FT) courses:
- Level 1: BTEC Work Skills (FT) progressing to Level 2 in Year 2.
- Level 2: Beauty Therapy (FT), Construction (FT), Child Care (FT), Fitness Instructing, Hairdressing (FT), Sports Studies, Work Skills (FT)
- Level 3 A-Level: Art, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Drama, English Language, English Literature, Extended Project (AS), French, Spanish, Geography, History, Core Maths (AS), Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Media, Philosophy, Photography, Physics, Physical Education, Psychology, Textiles, Sociology.
- Level 3 BTEC & Cambridge Technical: Applied Science, Business, Child Care (FT), Dance, Engineering, Personal Training, Health and Social Care, ICT Practitioners (FT), Music, Sports Coaching, Production Arts.
Entry requirements
A minimum of five grade 4 passes at GCSE are required to enrol onto a Level 3 programme of study, however we will consider each individual application based on the programme of study selected. For some of our academic qualifications a grade 6 may be required in the individual subject.
For students wishing to enter onto a Level 1 or 2 programme of study we will consider each application on an individual basis but do not stipulate specific prior attainment.

Students will either progress to University, employment or an apprenticeship. Learners with an EHCP may also consider progressing to a suitable FE provider following the completion of their study programme.

Some elements of the students Post 16 study programme may include opportunities for educational activities or trips which are outside of the formal curriculum offered – e.g. – Ten Tors and Duke of Edinburgh challenge. Each educational activity will identify the cost of any payments requested from parent.

Monday – Friday (8:50am-3:30pm)
Note: Some Level 1 & 2 courses are completed three days of the week.
